President of the Association

Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner (2012-2018) was elected President of the Association of Schools of Political Studies of the Council of Europe (ASPS) on 20 November 2018. Before becoming Human Rights Commissioner Mr Muižnieks held several important posts in Latvia including Minister responsible for social integration, Director of the Advanced Social and Political Research Institute (ASPRI) and Director of the Latvian Centre for Human Rights andn Ethnic Studies.

 

Jack Hanning

Secretary General

Secretary General of the Association of the Schools of Political Studies since July 2008, Jack Hanning was educated at Malvern and      Oxford and is fluent in four languages. He has devoted all his working life to Europe, first in education, translation and journalism, and then as a senior official.

At the Council of Europe, he was head of the Communication Department before becoming the Organisation’s Director of External Relations. He has taught at Strasbourg University and at the University of Syracuse. He is now the Representative of the European Movement International in Strasbourg and a consultant in international relations.

 

Ruth Resized

Ruth Goodwin

Treasurer

Ruth Goodwin worked at the Council of Europe from 1991 until her retirement in 2016. From 2012, she worked with the Schools of Political Studies, particularly on organisational and financial matters. Impressed by the dynamism and relevance of the Schools, she is delighted to continue her work through the activities of the Association of Schools of Political Studies, and has been its treasurer since 2016.
