World Forum for Democracy 2019

Strasbourg, 6-8 November 2019

"Is democracy in danger in the information age?"

The Council of Europe in partnership with the City of Strasbourg, the Region Grand-Est, the Conseil Départemental of Bas-Rhin and the French Government organised the eighth edition of the World Forum for Democracy 2019 from 6-8 November 2019 in Strasbourg.

This edition of the forum engaged 500 participants from the Schools of Political Studies network with young people, decision-makers and opinion-formers to debate and share opinions on the state of information and democracy worldwide.

Through a series of plenary sessions, forum talks and labs, participants along with other young leaders from around the world had the chance to discuss questions regarding the free flow of information and to what extent is information reliable.

A programme of special side events for the participants of the schools included Networking Lunches, a Public Debate, visits to the European Court of Human Rights and a Diploma Ceremony with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.
