The seminar “Sapere Aude: Freedom of Speech, Media and Society, Oxford” organised by the Association of Schools of Political Studies in collaboration with the European Studies Centre and St Antony’s College was held in Oxford on 22-26 January 2018. The seminar was attended by 69 young journalists, editors and media-managers from Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Poland and Ukraine.

During five working days participants discussed topics relating to the freedom of speech and the media, including: Propaganda and Rhetoric, Fake News, Journalism and Foreign Policy, Economic Transition, Liberal Democracy, Censorship versus Self-Censorship. The seminar also looked at some concrete projects undertaken in the area of media freedom.
